dbc960c045 The level controller complexity tests have lately been
flaky, with many false results and with a huge
variance.

This CL addresses that by changing the way the
API call durations are measured, using a warmup
period and a longer interval for computing the
timing estimates.

Furthermore, this CL reduces the number of tests
to compensate for the fact that the tests now are
more expensive, as well as to reduce the number
of regressions further.

aff96361d3 Greatly reduce number of level controller tests.
These tests have been causing a large number of false alerts, which is
tons of work for the perf sheriff. It's infeasible to test every single
permutation, so we must choose carefully. This CL reduces the number
of RESULT lines from the test from ~450 to ~50. I attempted to choose
interesting permutations, but you probably know better what's
interesting...

also suggests most of the metrics have enormous standard deviations,
so maybe you could look into how stable the metrics really are
and remove/stabilize the ones that aren't?

352444fcac RTC_[D]CHECK_op: Remove superfluous casts
There's no longer any need to make the two arguments have the same
signedness, so we can remove a bunch of superfluous (and sometimes
dangerous) casts.

It turned out I also had to fix the safe_cmp functions to properly handle
enums that are implicitly convertible to integers.

8271d04009 This CL introduces the new functionality for setting
the APM parameters to the high-pass filter.

The introduction will be done in three steps:
1) This CL which introduces the new scheme and
changes the code in webrtcvoiceengine.cc to use it.
2) Introduce the scheme into upstream code.
3) Remove the HighPassFilter interface in APM.

c19f312f54 This CL adds functionality in the level controller to
receive a signal level to use initially, instead of the
default initial signal level.

The initial form of the CL
(https://codereview.webrtc.org/2254973003/) was reverted
due to down-stream dependencies. These have been resolved,
but the CL needed to be revised according to the new scheme
for passing parameters to the audio processing module.
Therefore, please review this CL as if it is new.

81b9291dfd The FFT functionality in aec_rdft* is based on legacy C
code which is not thread-safe in the sense that the
rdft_init method can only be run in a single-threaded.

Currently, inside WebRTC multiple instances of the audio-
processing module are set up which means that the init
method may be run concurrently.

In order to avoid having to protect the init method with
a lock to ensure single-threaded behavior that, this CL
places the FFT functionality inside a class so that there
is no global component of the FFT functionality.

Note that:
1) The nonstandard header for the ooura_fft.cc was copied
from the aec_rdft.cc header, and augmented with a
description of the changes introduced in this CL.
2) The clang warnings for the ooura_fft_sse2.cc,
   ooura_fft_neon.cc and ooura_fft_mips.cc were not
addressed as this code was kept as it was before this CL
3) Clang-format was run on all files apart from
ooura_fft_mips.cc (as that would change the format of
   the inline assempbly code).

Adding bypass of presubmit to avoid code style and header errors caused by the fact that files with legacy code are being renamed.

88ac853e14 The current scheme for setting parameters and specifying the
behavior of the audio processing module is quite complex and hard to
implement in a threadsafe and efficient manner. Therefore a new
scheme for setting the parameters in the audio processing module is
introduced in this CL.

The idea is to roll this scheme out gradually and as a first functionality
in the audio processing module where this is applied the level controller
was chosen. This CL includes the replacement of the Config-based
level controller scheme with the new scheme.

10f606d8de Revert of Introduced new scheme for controlling the functionality inside the audio processing module (patchset #12 id:260001 of https://codereview.webrtc.org/2292863002/ )

Interface change in the mock breaks downstream code.

b59ff8952f This CL provides improved parameter tuning for the level controller as well as some further minor changes.
It does:
-Handle saturations in a better manner by adding different gain change
step sizes for upwards and downwards changes, as well as when there
is saturation.
-Handle conditions with initial noise-only regions in a better way by
setting a high initial peak level estimate which is gradually reduced until
certainty about the peak level is achieved.
-Limit the maximum gain to limit noise amplification, and to reflect that it
initially is intended to be used in cascade with the fixed digital AGC mode.
-Lower the maximum allowed stationary noise floor to reduce the risk of
excessive noise amplification.
-Lower the target gain to reduce the risk of causing the AEC on the other
end to fail due to high playout levels triggering nonlinearities.
This also reduces the risk for saturation.
-Handle the noise-only regions in a better manner.
